1.   L-Istati Membri għandhom jirrikonċiljaw skont il-liġi d-dritt għall-protezzjoni ta' data personali skont dan ir-Regolament mad-dritt għal-libertà ta' espressjoni u ta' informazzjoni, inkluż l-ipproċessar għal finijiet ġurnalistiċi u l-finijiet ta' espressjoni akkademika, artistika jew letterarja.

2.   Għall-ipproċessar li jsir għal finijiet ġurnalistiċi jew għall-fini ta' espressjoni akkademika artistika jew dik letterarja, l-Istati Membri għandhom jipprevedu eżenzjonijiet jew derogi mill-Kapitolu II (prinċipji), il-Kapitolu III (drittijiet tas-suġġett tad-data), il-Kapitolu IV (kontrollur u proċessur), il-Kapitolu V (trasferiment tad-data personali lil pajjiżi terzi jew organizzazzjonijiet internazzjonali), il-Kapitolu VI (awtoritajiet superviżorji indipendenti), il-Kapitolu VII (kooperazzjoni u konsistenza) u l-Kapitolu IX (sitwazzjonijiet speċifiċi ta' pproċessar tad-data) jekk dawn jinħtieġu għal rikonċiljazzjoni tad-dritt għall-protezzjoni ta' data personali mal-libertà ta' espressjoni u ta' informazzjoni.

3.   Kull Stat Membru għandu jinnotifika lill-Kummissjoni dwar id-dispożizzjonijiet tal-liġi tiegħu li jkun adotta skont il-paragrafu 2 u, mingħajr dewmien, dwar kwalunkwe liġi ta' emenda jew emenda sussegwenti li taffettwahom.

1.   Member States shall by law reconcile the right to the protection of personal data pursuant to this Regulation with the right to freedom of expression and information, including processing for journalistic purposes and the purposes of academic, artistic or literary expression.

2.   For processing carried out for journalistic purposes or the purpose of academic artistic or literary expression, Member States shall provide for exemptions or derogations from Chapter II (principles), Chapter III (rights of the data subject), Chapter IV (controller and processor), Chapter V (transfer of personal data to third countries or international organisations), Chapter VI (independent supervisory authorities), Chapter VII (cooperation and consistency) and Chapter IX (specific data processing situations) if they are necessary to reconcile the right to the protection of personal data with the freedom of expression and information.

3.   Each Member State shall notify to the Commission the provisions of its law which it has adopted pursuant to paragraph 2 and, without delay, any subsequent amendment law or amendment affecting them.
